Need more CT output?
Need a return on your exhaust/silencer upgrade investment?
Want to optimize your exhaust aerodynamics to improve durability and reliability?
The SVI BREMCO BAR silencer for turbine exhaust is the best-in-class gas turbine exhaust silencer technology, and it costs less than the silencer you currently have. Free your flow today!
The traditional gas turbine exhaust silencers approach has been parallel baffle silencers (or splitters). A parallel baffle silencer uses baffles parallel to the turbine exhaust flow to provide attenuation as the exhaust gas passes through. The problem with this is that the exhaust flow is forced into a passage between two baffles for the active length of the silencer. As you can see below, this results in concentrated flow in that silencer passage, which results in excessive velocities and overall durability issues.
Compare it with a typical CT exhaust silencer
| Compare | Pressure Drop | Average Gap Velocities | Silencer Length |
| In-Kind (OEM) | 2.51 wg | 193.2 fps | 16.83 ft |
| SVI BREMCO's BAR Silencer | 0.93 wg | 123.33 fps | 13.5 ft |
SVI BREMCO is an industrial equipment supplier that provides BAR silencers.

Improvements the BAR silencer provides include:
- More CT output by reducing silencer pressure drop. For the same amount of exhaust silencing, the BAR silencer has less pressure drop, providing ROI
- Optimized aerodynamics providing lower velocities. The BAR silencer uses a more 'open' pattern compared to baffles. The BAR array allows exhaust gas to continue to disperse throughout the silencer, and it acts like a flow straightener, providing more laminar flow.
- Better acoustic performance. The BAR silencer has a larger absorptive face area and, therefore, can provide more attenuation over the same silencer length, making it much more efficient acoustically. The bar silencer can also provide better broadband noise reduction than baffle silencers, which reduce noise across the spectrum from low to high frequencies.
- Reduces exhaust system vibration. The BAR silencer array allows the flow to move freely and is flow-releasing. This reduces the pulsations you can typically hear and feel from the flow-induced low-frequency noise with typical baffles due to their poor aerodynamics. The freed flow also reduces side loads on the silencers, which reduces fatigue, allowing for a longer life span.
- Superior structural performance. In addition to the reduced loads on the silencer, all BAR silencers are fabricated from 304 stainless steel. This stainless steel construction provides superior structural performance at elevated temperatures compared to other material options.
